The McGagh Family Happenings

Katie has been having a blast with Grampy this week. In the car the other night she said something about her dad which Grampy questioned. She then told him that her daddy was violent. This of course set him off. Not sure where she got that b/c of course he’s anything but…

This morning I told her that daddy was taking them to school so I could get to work early. Her response “I don’t want to go with that sicko!” Mike has a nasty cold and is SICK, not a sicko.

I can just imagine what she tells people at school. My daddys a violent sicko!

The house is coming along. Today they should be painting. We spent a few hours last night finalizing colors, while Grampy watched the kids. If we could just get the cabinets finalized we might actually be moving in soon.

Tile is also going down. It looks really good. Will post pix soon.

Kids are doing well. Katie has one more gymnastics comp left and then the season is over. She’s done so well and is so excited. She is doing very well in school. Her reading ability is amazing. Mikey is doing well, torturing his sister and just being a 3 (almost 4) year old boy.

Katie had her first gymnastics meet on Sunday.  She was a little nervous but did very well.  She ended up with a blue ribbon on vault, red on floor and bars and white on beam.  Blue means 9.0 or above, red 8.0-8.99, white below 8.0 (I think).  She’s very excited and proud of herself.  She can’t wait until the next one.

As for the house, its slowly coming alone.  The framing continues inside.  The whole backside of the house is gone and being reframed to accomidate the new french doors.  Still finding issues here and there but hopefully everything will work out.  Heard from Mike today that we may have one issue that we’ll have to back to the insurance companies about.  The brick is falling apart in the areas where the backer board was damaged.  We’ll have to wait and see what happens there.

Mike picked up our new(ish) appliances and they are waiting in our storage unit.  Can’t wait to have a usable kitchen.  I hate my kitchen now.  Not worth trying to cook in.  We’ve picked tile and granite.  So slowly, things are finally happening.

The contractors have started on the house. There were people prepping the driveway yesterday to pour the new driveway/garage floor. Should be home before Thanksgiving.

Well vacation is over.  We returned home from Boston yesterday morning.  Mike and Katie in first class and poor Mikey and me in coach.  Mean ol’ hubby! 

We had a blast in Boston.  Kids got to play and swim and visit with Nana, Kalyn and Devin.  My mom put Mike to work.  He powerwashed the deck and house, replaced a dimmer switch, and replaced a light fixture.  I was surprised she let him leave. 

We had Harbor House many times and it was just as good as we remembered.  The weather was gorgeous, although Mikey said it was much too cold (85 deg).

So back to work and next week the kids are back to school.  Summer is basically over.

Well its been almost a year and not much has happened right???  Anyway, no need to dwell on the hurricane. losing our house, getting laid off,etc.  I have a wonderful job now and we’re all doing well.  Work should begin onthe house soon.   I hope we’ll be back in a couple of months.

Mikey and Katie are doing well.  Katie has been attending camps for July.  Acrofit for 3 weeks and Onstage Kids drama camp for all this week.  She is so excited.  I can’t wait to see the show on Friday night.  She is still loving dance and will be competing again next year.  She’ll have 2 team dances and one solo for competitions.  She’s also taking a couple of technique classes as well as gymnastics team.

Mikey is 3, soooo 3.  And such a boy!  He’s adorable and loving but such a boy. 

Not much going on.  I’ll catch up again soon, I promise.

Katie’s first day of kindergarten was yesterday, Aug. 25. Here are some pix of her all dressed up and ready to go. She is still at the Montessori, with the same teacher and classroom. Of course Mikey was thrilled with all the picture taking. He is now in the other preschool room with all the big kids. He loves it.

Katie has auditioned for Production Team this year.  Production Team is a musical theatre competition team.  So this week she has three days of camp to start learning the choreography.  This is the outfit she picked for today.  Kind of reminds me of 1982, she just needs the leg warmers.
